Southern wind blows softly, smell of spring and coffee, as you descend the kitchen stairs and shake the sunlight from your hair. Pull up a seat, son. I got to let you know. The time will soon come when I'll have to let you go.
The day's on fire, the weather's turned. Let's sit back and watch this one burn.
May you stay wild, strong and free, but don't go growing old on me.
They'll be a time you'll work for pay. Today is not a working day.
May you know all the things you need to know
when the curtain falls, when the lights go low.
I have sinned and then some. But there's been much I've overcome.
I pray my sins don't haunt thee. May the apple fall far from the tree.
So stand up straight, son. I know it's sad but it's true.
The time will soon come when I'll have to cut you loose.
The day's on fire, the weather's turned. Let's sit back and watch this one burn.
May you stay wild, strong and free, but don't go growing old on me.
They'll be a time you'll work for pay. Today is not a working day.
May you know all the things you need to know
when the curtain falls, when the lights go...
I can only take you so far. Then I'll turn you over to the stars.
And may the celestial signs that they design remind you of who you are.
This days on fire.

A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
